- Is it safe to travel independently?
Yes, you have to be more careful than if you were travelling with a
guide, but once you've been through the Lonely
Planet Forum (for instance), you'll be updated about the potential
dangers. Sri Lanka is a safe country since you'll be avoiding the North
areas.
- Who is the Tour Operator you talk about?
Kumar Travel Word. It is one of the biggest of Sri Lanka. You'll get
the contact with them for free.
- Do I have to pay an advance?
It depends on Hotels and periods. Generally during high season (1st
of November - 30th of April and 15th of July - 15th of September) an
advance or credit car number is required.
- What about Air Ticket?
You have to buy it yourself. Sometimes it can be arranged from Sri Lanka
and in some cases may result cheaper.
- Can I change my itinerary?
Sure, in most cases you can change whatever you want. If you are going
on a Tour that won't be possible.
- Do you accept credit cards?
I don't get payments. Hotels and Tour Operators do accept them in most
cases.
- When is the best period to go?
Sri Lanka is worth a visit the all year round! When it is raining in
the West and South coast (end of April, May, June), there's great weather
on the East coast (Trincomalee and Batticaloa). The best period to visit
the center-north, center-west and south-coasts is from beginning of
November to the end of April and from half July to half September.
- Illnesses? Malaria? Vaccinations?
No vaccination is compulsory for Sri Lanka. The best way is always to
talk to your doctor as I am not authorized to give medical advice.
