Sri Lanka is an island in the Indian Ocean with a land so striking
in its natural beauty, so green and fertile, its tropical climate mellowed
by sea, mountains, water and trees. On a map, the shape and structure
of Sri Lanka is immeasurably complex with a variety of land formations,
vegetation, climate, animal life and human settlements. You may travel
90 miles inland from the East or the West Coast, climbing from sea level
to over 8000 feet. Yet it is possible to drive 600 miles around the
island, without losing sight of the ocean.
Here's how your unique Adventure Safari to this magnificent pearl shaped
island begins.
DAY ONE On your arrival, we will be there at the airport to welcome you
with palms clasped together and a gentle bow of the head that accompanies
the "Ayubovan", Sri Lankan's traditional gesture of welcome
and respect. >From there we will drive you in air-conditioned comfort
to Ratnapura - the city of gems, jewels and rubies. Lunch will be arranged
for you at Hotel Rathnaloka (which means light of the gems), or at Centuria
Hotel Embilipitiya, which is situated by the side of the Chandrika Wawe
(Lake).
Your dinner and overnight stay will be arranged there so that you can
relax the rest of the day to overcome your travel fatigue.
DAY TWO On this day, after breakfast at Hotel Rathnaloka, we will drive
you to the largest rain forest in Sri Lanka - The Sinharaja World Heritage
Site. This rain forest is one of the few such remaining rain forests
in the whole of Asia.
Here we have arranged for you to go hiking throughout the entire morning
so that you can enjoy its splendid, natural environment. During your
hiking tour you can walk under the domes or roof gardens, formed by
the thick vegetation of high trees and which are carpeted with thick
flowers.
During your stroll under the domes or roof gardens, you will sight birds
such as the brilliantly plumaged jungle fowls, the striking red-faced
Malkoha, the shy brown capped babbler and many more. Enjoy a large range
of exquisite orchids including rare species such as pink - mauve vesak.
You will also learn to identify valuable timber trees such as ebony,
teak, satinwood and mahogany.
We then drive you back to the hotel for lunch. On the way to the hotel
we will take you to visit the gem bureau of this city of gems and jewels.
You can witness the world's rarest star ruby, which is an unique stone
with twelve rays. Here you will find a superb collection of precious
and semi precious stones, exclusive elegant classic jewellery. You can
purchase these elegant products as souvenirs for your loved ones back
home.
After lunch, we will drive you to the Task Safari Camp at Kuda Oya,
where the camping site is well blended into the wilderness. Here we
will arrange your overnight stay in a Tent, which is built on the banks
of the Kirindi Oya River. These spacious and tastefully designed red-cement
floored tents are equipped with an attached toilet; a hollow log shower
and a wash basin attached to a natural rock. Generators provide electricity
for these mosquito-rid tents. Take a refreshing dip in the cool clear
waters of Kirindi Oya, and be ready for a sumptuous barbecue on the
riverbank. Enjoy your BBQ listening to the night whispers of Mother
Nature.
DAY THREE On this day you will wake up with the first rays of sunlight which
accompanies the songs of the birds. After having breakfast we will proceed
on to an another walking safari to the out skirts of Bundala or To Sepala
Wewa (Lake). Enjoy walking through this jungle with a professional tracker
who will clear the path as you walk along. Stop near numerous water
holes and view the different types of ducks and large aquatic birds
such as stork and large flocks of migrant flamingos. You can spot the
bird life such as heron, egret, spoonbill, pelican, ibis and hornbills
during your scroll.
When you return back to the Task Safari Camp by dusk, you will have
time for a leisurely bath at the Kirindi Oya River. Then you can get
ready for another riverside BBQ dinner.
DAY FOUR
On this day we want to add more spice to your adventure safari. After
breakfast we will leave the Task Safari Camp and drive to the Gold Coast-
a beach front with a calm and surf protected by a quiet natural bay.
During this drive bay town of Hambanthota, you will find many beach
resorts and your full board and logging will be arranged at one of these
beach resorts, namely Hotel Oasis.
Here we have planned another surprise for you. After having lunch we
will drive you to the Yala Animal Sanctuary. At this sanctuary you will
be amazed to see large herds of Spotted Deer, and for those of you who
have sharp eyes can see many Barking Deer's. Wild Buffalo and Wild Boar
could give you a good surprise and a great souvenir picture, while the
sight of a leopard sunning itself or drinking water at a water hole
could be a memorable experience.
As dusk gathers we will get back to the hotel, but don't be surprise
if you get the rare chance of seeing the Ceylon sloth bear scampering
with its young on its back or that the vehicle you travel could be held
up for a while by a python crossing the track.
After returning to the hotel, you can relax yourself by plunging into
the calm sea, and getting ready for dinner.
DAY FIVE After an early breakfast will drive you back to the Yala Animal
Sanctuary but this time to see the Sri Lankan Elephants, undoubtedly
the best known attraction at the Yala Animal Sanctuary in the early
mornings. You can see them in small or large herds. After this memorable
experience we will drive you back to the hotel for lunch and then proceed
on with our adventure safari to the hill country.
On our way to hill country we will pass through narrow passes, beside
deep ravines and over gushing streams. You will also see the vegetation
change from tropical profusion to a gentle spreading of rubber plantations,
to cool green hills- The Home of the Famous Ceylon Tea. You will see

drive which descends from 8000 ft above sea level to 1400 ft will end
up at the charming hill capital of Kandy. During this drive, enjoy the

on the spot. We will arrange your dinner and overnight stay in Kandy
at Hotel Topaz.
DAY SEVEN
This is the last day of your Adventure Safari. After breakfast we will
drive you to another beachfront holiday resort closer to the airport.
During this drive through the middle of the nestling low hills, you
will begin to notice that Kandy is still the home of the arts and crafts,
which flourished during the reign of Kings. You will also get to see
the Spice Gardens right along the sides of the road.
After driving about 40 miles away from the city of Kandy, we will take
you to see the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala. This orphanage was established
to feed, nurse and house young elephants found abandoned by their mothers,
those who have fallen into pits and ravines in their quest for water
during the drought period and those who have been displaced from their
natural environs by development projects or those found diseased or
wounded. You will have your lunch en route and arrive at Negombo for
dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Ranwil - a beach front hotel - where
you can relax on the perfect golden sand fringed by swaying coconut
palms or plunge into the sea for a swim before dinner.
